I thought I’d do a little post that’s more personal than some of the other stuff I’ve written lately. So here are some things that have been going on in my life over the past few months, with plenty of photos included!
BrickUniverse LEGO Convention
At the end of January, I went to the BrickUniverse LEGO Convention in Chattanooga, Tennessee. My partner and I went with my cousin for his birthday. It was fascinating to see all of the pieces of art that people made using LEGOs, often in ways you wouldn’t expect. The amount of detail on each piece was impressive, some of them taking hours, days, weeks, and months to complete.
We had a great time viewing everything at the convention, but my favorite part was definitely the construction pictured above. If you look closely, you can see runes on the building and a cipher at the bottom. We used the cipher to translate the runes, and we ended up winning a robot dog to build ourselves as a prize for being the ones who were able to decipher the most before the time ran out.
You can see some more of my favorite pieces of LEGO art below.

Baking
I’ve been doing a lot of baking lately. It’s one of my absolute favorite hobbies. Recently, I’ve been using The Preppy Kitchen a lot for recipes, while making a few tweaks of my own here and there. I quite like his recipes, though, and I’m hoping to make his easy Yorkshire puddings soon. Below are a few of the things I’ve baked, including a cherry pie for Valentine’s Day, strawberry cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting, and Thimblets.

Birthday
On March 4th, I turned 35. Birthdays don’t seem to mean as much anymore, they’re almost just like any other day, so I celebrated simply by going to lunch with family. I did get some great gifts, though, and my favorite by far is this Robbie the Rabbit figure that my partner got me from Good Smile. I collect Silent Hill merchandise, so it was a welcome addition to the collection, and I love the detail on the figure, down to his fuzzy fur.
Everything Else
Those are the significant things. Aside from the LEGO convention, baking, and my birthday, I’ve been:
- Reading: currently Robert Harris’ Imperium, which I may write a review on once I’ve finished
- Having a Scream movie marathon: I’m super excited about Scream 6 coming out in theaters this weekend, so my partner and I have been watching all of the other movies in preparation for the newest one. Although some of them have their problems, they’re solid horror movies and I’ve always enjoyed the series, so it’s nice to revisit them all in close succession.
- Gaming: I’m always playing video games. Recently, I finished Pentiment, a great choices-matter narrative adventure with accurate medieval history and a lovely art style. Although it made me panic over my moral decisions at times, I loved learning more about history while playing through an intriguing story where it felt like my choices really did hold weight. At the moment, I’m getting through Sable, a chill exploration game with unique and beautiful environments.
That’s all! What have you been up to lately?
